Hit the Streets for Todd Vachon

Todd Vachon is a socialist candidate for Congress in Connecticut, and needs our help to overcome extremely prohibitive ballot access laws. While we have been very busy holding public meetings, discussions and independent media interviews, we must gather 3,000 verified signatures by August in order to appear on the ballot in November.

That's why this coming Saturday, 17 May, we have organized a large petitioning campaign centered around Vernon, CT, and are looking for as many volunteers as possible. Carpools will be heading to Vernon from Rhode Island, Quincy/Boston, Amherst/Northampton, Brattleboro VT, and points in CT. You do not have to be a Connecticut resident to help collect signatures!

We will be meeting at 10:30 AM at the Vernon Dunkin Donuts to provide coffee, petitions, clipboards and instructions, before branching out in small groups to gather signatures at various locations.

If you think that you will be able to make it please contact us so we can coordinate carpooling and determine how many clipboards to prepare. Visit www.votevachon.com for more information.

5/16 (Fri): Stand out against the wars, 5 pm, Copley

As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan drag on without end, we must reassert our opposition to America's imperialist misadventures, and keep up the pressure to stop the wars and bring the troops home now.

After more than five years of war at home and abroad, we cannot afford to let the issue fade into the background.

Join us Friday, 16 May, to stand out against the wars in Copley Square. The standout starts at 5 pm, and we'll go as long as we're able.

Part of the Iraq Moratorium project, this local action complements large regional and national demonstrations, keeping the war in Iraq an issue and agitation against it visible.
