SPUSA History - Over 100 Years of Democratic Socialism

Next Wednesday, July 13th at 7pm the Tom Mooney Local of the Socialist Party will meet at the Bangs Center in downtown Amherst to discuss the history of the Socialist Party from 1901 to present. With the ongoing occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan in mind, we will focus in particular on socialist resistence to past US wars. Our discussion will start with the 100th Anniversary Flyer that the SPUSA produced in 2001. This meeting is handicap accessible and open to all.

Young People's Socialist League
National Convention
Antioch University, Yellow Springs Ohio
July 8-10 2005

YPSL is the youth affiliate of the Socialist Party USA and is open to all young socialists under the age of 30. Local comrades will be carpooling out to Yellow Springs Ohio for this year's National Convention and we've got room for more people. If you're interested in going, you should register on our website and contact Matthew Andrews about transportation.

Our keynote speaker will be Carl Webb, a Texas National Guard war resister. We will also discuss our work with the National Youth & Student Peace Coalition, and the SPUSA anti-recruitment campaign.

Other workshops include:
"Delegitimizing fascist stuff: fun with stencils and wheatpaste,"
"How to be a union organizer,"
"Playing well with others: coalition building and leftist unity,”
“The Psychology of War and Fascism,”
and much more!
