March 8th International Women's Day - Plan ahead and Organize As a socialist feminist organization, the Socialist Party USA regards International Women's Day as a holiday of great importance to the building of the worldwide democratic socialist movement. Throughout the world, the discrimination and exploitation encountered by women -- especially women of color, women with disabilities, elderly women, unemployed and low-income women -- have their roots in capitalism, US imperialism, and patriarchy. The personal, political, social, and economic consequences of these global scourges effect women in dire ways on a daily basis. Only grassroots organizing and solidarity actions at the national and international levels will solve the problems that women, and men, face today(SP-USA Women's Commission Statement). Honor the memory of
Rosie Jimenez...

Start Organizing andTake action on October 3, to repeal the Hyde Amendment!

On October 3, 1977 -- shortly after the Hyde Amendment went into effect, banning the use of Federal Medicaid funds for abortions-- Rosie Jimenez died from a botched back-alley abortion because she couldn't afford a safe, legal one. The injustice of the Hyde Amendment continues to this day.

HELP BUILD A MOVEMENT TO REPEAL THE HYDE AMENDMENT. ONLY OUR GRASSROOTS EFFORTS WILL PUT THIS CRITICAL ISSUE ON THE NATIONAL AGENDA.

SP Women's Commission: FEMINIST PROCESS GUIDE

Robert's Rule of Order Tip Sheet

"I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must under go a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a "thing-oriented" society to a "person-oriented" society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism and militarism are incapable of being conquered." --Martin Luther King , Jr.

Imagine coming together with others to create a society in which we could live Martin Luther King’s dream. Where a radical Democracy afforded us true liberty and freedom. Where inequality, exploitation, and alienation were obscure. Where people could work to obtain their full potential and work for the common good of all human kind. Where people find value in each other and not material wealth.  Where people are supported by social programs and are given equal opportunity. Imagine a country without classes. Without a power structure that holds most of the wealth.  Without Capitalism: no greed, no racism, no sexism, no heterosexism, no classism, no poverty, no war.  Imagine life as it should be.  Join us to fight for what we all truly deserve: DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM .
